Hello. Steven here. Welcome to my Cyber-Corner. If there is one thing that has been consistent throughout my years of counseling, is the toughness of change. Whether it’s shifting your mindset, improving a relationship, or starting a new habit, the road to transformation is rarely a straight line. But here's the kicker — without self-awareness, change is nearly impossible.
In my years of counseling, I've learned that the most profound change starts with a simple but powerful step: knowing yourself. If you don’t understand your thoughts, triggers, or behaviors, how can you possibly change them?
Self-awareness is like turning on a light in a dark room. You suddenly see everything: your strengths, your weaknesses, your unspoken fears, and the emotional patterns that guide your decisions. But it’s not just about knowing what’s in the room; it’s about making conscious choices with that knowledge.
In therapy, I often help people untangle their patterns, helping them uncover why they react the way they do. Sometimes, it’s old habits or beliefs that don’t serve them anymore. Other times, it’s the way they’ve learned to cope with pain. Recognizing these things doesn’t always bring immediate change, but it’s the foundation for lasting transformation.
So, here’s the truth: if you want to make a change, start with the uncomfortable work of self-awareness. Ask yourself the hard questions. Why do you do what you do? What’s driving your feelings? When you become aware of the forces at play in your mind, you gain the ability to make different, more intentional choices.
Change is possible. But first, you’ve got to take a hard look in the mirror and understand what’s there. Only then can you make the changes that matter.
Thanks for joining me on this journey of self-discovery. Stay tuned for more insights and practical tips for embracing change, one step at a time.
